Goodbye daddy

It's with a heavy heart that I announce the sudden passing of my beloved father, Jan Roosens on 31 october 2021. Born 11th September 1960 in Ninove, Belgium, my father’s first interest started in 1989 when for my first communion , I asked if he would buy me a dog. A lady at his work that visited his desk daily always had a papillon in her arms and from then on he was hooked and from there on De Costalina – Daydream Believers papillons’ began.

My father was a man with big dreams, but yet found happiness in the smallest of things. He enjoyed nothing more than a cheese sandwich with mustard but would be the first to order a bottle of champagne to share with friends.
My father was a real gentleman and an absolute character, who loved to laugh and joke and always had a smile on his face. He had a wonderful positive outlook on life and made everyone around him have a good time.

My father was a man with a vision, it wasn’t only his wish to maintain our breed but unmistakably he has helped put our most pretty Belgian breed in the spotlight globally in the showring

My father travelled the world in his everlasting hunt to see and get the perfect papillon of which he had made a clear picture in his head when studying the breed standard for so long.

His passion and love for the papillon is untold and his knowledge on the breed was immense. He has taught me so much about the breed and dogs in general and I am forever grateful he introduced me to these wonderful butterflies, which I could never be without. They made the bond between my father and I even stronger we shared such passion together and I hope I can carry on all his hard work within my breeding and him as proud as he made me.
